The Riverboat Song

According to Steve Cradock, 'red' is blood and 'green' is jealousy. Famously, 'The Riverboat Song' appears on Chris Evan's 'TFI Friday'. Much to Damon Minchella's delight, the song has also been used on 'Sportsnight'. "It's been a nice money-spinner," he admits.

2

The Day we caught the Train

Recently voted 11th in top songs of the Nineties. The video was filmed near to Salvador Dali's house in Figueres, Spain.

3

The Circle

Originally written by Simon Fowler as a slow acoustic ballad whilst living in Steve Cradock's flat in Moseley.

4

Lining Your Pockets

Written about the hard times the band endured following their acrimonious departure from the 'Fontana' label.

5

Fleeting Mind

Apparently written at 3 o'clock in the morning after an all-night drinking binge. Simon Fowler admits that the song has no real meaning and is simply clever wordplay and rhetoric.

6

40 Past Midnight

Uses the melody from the Rolling Stones' "Let's Spend the Night Together", albeit with a much slower tempo. This was written and recorded in 6 hours.

7

One For The Road

Primarily about his cousin, Simon Fowler wrote 'One For The Road' on the same day as 'The Day We Caught The Train'. The song only appeared on the album after Paul Weller convinced the band to include it, but now they wish the track had been released as a single. The brother of a Spanish fan wrote to the band to ask if the lyrics of 'One for the Road' could be printed on his headstone, after he died following a heart transplant.
