Damon set up The Fanatics, the band which eventually became Ocean Colour Scene. Although he lived in Birmingham for much of his life (where he formed 'the Fanatics'), he was born in Liverpool and says his dream gig would be to play at Goodison Park. As he is an avid everton supporter, Damon actually played in goal before Dave Watson's testimonial match, keeping a clean sheet. He was also given Barry Horne's Wales shorts, which can be seen on the 'Marchin' Already' artwork.
He is a quarter Italian. Also, like Steve, Damon has played in Paul Weller's band. On stage, Damon can usually be seen rooted to the spot staring at Oscar. His bass playing is consistently perfect and it can be sometimes taken for granted the difference he makes to a song. He also writes the majority the music along with Steve. Damon is never shy of expressing his 'much-studied' opinions on music and anything else he fancies taking a jab at.
Damon contributed bass to Paul Weller's 'Out Of The Sinking' and to the Dr. John release 'Anutha Zone'. His first royalty cheque from the 'Moseley Shoals' album was spent on a sports car. He is the only member of the band who regularly wears designer clothes. Although his beliefs are admittedly weak, Damon comes from a catholic background. He has recently moved to Stratford-upon-Avon from his old house in Notting Hill. In mid-July 2000, he became a father for the first time.
On 8th of December 2003, it was officially announced that Damon had left OCS for reasons that alledgely involve a fight with another band member which led to the friction in the group and in the end Damon’s departure. He is currently working with ‘The Players’ a four piece instrumental group.
