'B-sides: Seaside’s & Freeride's' was released in 1997 and was limited to a mere 200,000 copies. Originally a 'cut-price' release, the value of the album has steadily risen and today is difficult to find. A beautiful collection of B-sides, the album successfully breached the gap between the releases of 'Moseley Shoals' and 'Marchin' Already'. Albeit a compilation rather than an album, 'B-sides: Seaside’s & Freeride's' perfectly illustrated the more folky and lyrically aware side of Ocean Colour Scene after the riff dominated 'Moseley Shoals'. Interestingly, side D of the double LP release of 'B-sides: Seaside’s & Freeride's' has the hidden message '...the shadow knows...' subtly etched into the vinyl.

Day Tripper
